This year, St. Nicholas Day at Uniting Hearts became something much deeper than a holiday. It was a day for children who, just days earlier, were hearing air-raid sirens and seeing rockets in the sky.
We asked for one thing: that Saint Nicholas protects the children, their parents, and Ukraine.
Thanks to the incredible Ukrainian community in Montenegro (and beyond), the holiday brought joy to 16 children – with gifts, treats, smiles, and warmth.
We are grateful to everyone who made this meeting possible:
- “Enadija” Charity Fund
- Pristanište Foundation – for giving children from Ukraine something priceless – the chance to sleep in silence.
A peaceful plane in the sky – a small dream
For many of us, an airplane overhead is normal. For children in Ukraine, it can be something they’ve never seen – because passenger flights disappeared from the sky with the war. Thanks to Pristanište, 16 children and 3 adults could finally experience a simple, healing miracle: rest without explosions, finally see the sea, and simply sleep – in quiet.
Creating light with our own hands
Alongside the holiday, the community also held a Christmas Star workshop – a symbol of hope, guidance, and the belief that Light defeats darkness. While we created stars, we remembered the real stars of Ukraine: our defenders who protect the sky and our freedom.
Thank you to everyone who helped bring warmth back into children’s eyes.
Together – until Victory.
