We Welcome You With Open Arms And Open Minds

Community Ukrainogorci

Ukrainogortci is a volunteer-led community of Ukrainians in Montenegro, brought together by Ukraine - and by the shared need to support one another, stay connected, and build a sense of home far from home. We create spaces where people can meet, make friends, and feel “among our own,” while also preserving language, culture, and traditions through events, education, and family initiatives.

At the same time, we turn solidarity into action: volunteering, charity projects, and practical support for Ukrainians here and for Ukraine itself.

Our story

Our team of like-minded people came together in 2022, and since then we’ve been actively volunteering across multiple areas. The organization was officially registered in 2024. Our main city is Budva, but we’re always open to new horizons across Montenegro.

What we do

We run projects in several directions, including:

Children & Youth – kids’ community initiatives, mountain and Adriatic summer camps, sports sections (basketball/volleyball/swimming), clubs for ages 1.5–17, theatre and vocal studios, support for children with special needs, cooking workshops, language clubs, hikes, celebrations, gifts, and kids’ corners at events.

Parents & Families – community gatherings, meetings with psychologists, support for pregnant women and young mothers, wellbeing activities (including yoga/retreat formats), speaking clubs, and mutual support in difficult moments.

Integration in Montenegro – a social center initiative, language courses, lectures (e.g., Balkan history), and excursions around Montenegro to help people feel confident and connected.

Support for Ukraine – participation in charity fairs, weaving camouflage nets, collecting humanitarian aid, preparing practical supplies and dry rations, making traditional motanka dolls, Ukrainian cuisine days, and events dedicated to Ukrainian holidays and important dates.

Culture – creative evenings, film screenings, representing Ukraine at an international carnival, supporting competitions, music and theatre projects led by honored Ukrainian artists, hosting Ukrainian folk groups, and cultural initiatives that keep Ukrainian identity visible and alive.

Ecology & Nature Protection – waste sorting and separate collection (plastic, cans, used batteries), clean-up actions at historical sites, and educational activities about Montenegro’s nature, flora/fauna, and biodiversity.

Why we exist

We realized we need to unite –to develop, create, open new opportunities, learn from each other, and support one another, while keeping Ukraine close in our hearts. That’s how Ukrainogortci was born – and we’re just getting started.
